Sour Apple Rings isn't a subtle green. Atomic Polish's candy-inspired shade pairs a bright yellow-green base with shimmer, and nail-polish collectors have been sharing different ways to wear it since its 2023 release. Some paint every nail; others use just a narrow line at the tips.
The polish first appeared in Polish Pickup's May 2023 Junk Food collection. It returned for the shop's July 2024 Rewind event, giving people who missed that first release another opportunity to buy it.
The dated release records are more useful than treating every resale listing as the going price. A launch review listed Sour Apple Rings at $13. A later collector's purchase list recorded $13.50 for the 2024 return. Neither figure is a promise about today's stock or price.
A Bright Color With a Changing Finish
In her April 2023 preview, Cosmetic Sanctuary's Lisa Heath described the yellow-leaning green base and pigment that shifts through red, gold and green. Her photos used two coats with a glossy top coat. The feature was labeled paid PR, which is useful context when reading its enthusiastic presentation.
A community post from June 2023 described using two coats on most nails and three on the thumbs. That gives a more specific idea of one wearer's application than a blanket promise that the polish always covers in a single coat.
The shimmer is part of the appeal. When comparing swatches, look at the lighting, coat count and any other color underneath, as well as the bottle name.
How Collectors Wear It
The shade doesn't require a full neon manicure. In an August 2024 Reddit post, one wearer used Sour Apple Rings for French tips over a nail primer. The small area of green gave them a way to try neon without covering the whole nail.
Another wearer, posting in March 2025, put one coat over a different neon green polish to make their bottle last longer. They listed the base color and top coat alongside Sour Apple Rings, so readers could see how the finished manicure was assembled.
Those are individual examples, not a test of wear time or durability. They do offer two approaches for anyone who already owns a bottle and wants to use it differently.
The Maker and the Restock Question
Atomic Polish owner Stacey Matern says she makes the polishes in small batches. The Minnesota-based business launched in February 2019. Its website describes its polish as vegan, cruelty-free and 5-free unless otherwise noted; those are the maker's claims, not a guarantee that a formula will suit everyone.
Sour Apple Rings has returned before, as the official 2024 Rewind list confirms. That history doesn't establish when another batch will be available. Check the maker's announcements and the terms of a particular sale before ordering.
A resale asking price tells you what one seller wants. It doesn't show what bottles actually sold for, or what you'll need to pay if the shade returns through the original shop.
